We were invited by Cantell Secondary School to take part in a Debating Competition. This was a great opportunity for our children to demonstrate their debating skills and meet children from other schools. We selected four children from Year 5 to represent the school at this competition: Kaja Szczepanowska, Farhanah Miah, Zain Javed and Simi SIngh.
The title of one of the main debate was: “School days are the best days of our lives…discuss’.
The second debate title, which we did not find out until the day was: 'Children should be stopped from using the internet...discuss'
The competition took place on Wednesday 28th March and in the lead up to the competition, the children gave up their own time to research and practise for the debate.
It was a tough competition and the other teams competed really well. However, we are incredibly proud to say that we triumphed! We were particularly praised for our preparation and ability to think and react on the spot.
It was a wonderful learning opportunity and we look forward to defending our title next year!
