Bevois Town Primary School's Learning Council

Pupils…

  1. Do you love learning?
  2. Are you keen to make a difference?
  3. Do you share our ambition to make Bevois Town the very best it can be?

Then Bevois Town's Learning Council needs you!

At Bevois Town Primary School, we are keen to ensure every learner achieves the best possible progress; personally, emotionally and socially as well as academically. In order to evaluate how well we are doing and continue to improve, we aim to understand what it really means to be a learner at Bevois Town. We measure our effectiveness through the eyes of our children and actively seek and listen to their views.  Equally, we feel it is important the children understand and share our priorities for improvement and how they can learn with, from and on behalf of one another to help make Bevois Town the best it can be.

Aims

To advise the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and teaching staff on how:

  • To improve learning conditions for all children at Bevois Town Primary School
  • To ensure learning feels purposeful and relevant
  • To ensure learning is interactive and interesting
  • To ensure planning, teaching and assessment results in improved outcomes for all groups of pupils
  • To help shape and support the implementation of school incentives / projects which will impact positively on both behaviour for learning and enjoyment of learning.

The Role of the Learning Council

The Learning Councillors actively participate

in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness

of learning throughout the school. They discuss

the way forward and make recommendations

based on their evidence and discussions.

As members of the Learning Council you will:

  • Carry out surveys of pupils’ views about learning
  • Work with Senior Leaders to support your class with the implementation of initiatives
  • Visit other classes and learning across the school.
  • Look at examples of pupils’ work
