Working in Partnership with Parents

As a school we value our positive partnerships with parents and carers and the contribution you, as your child’s first teachers, make in developing their learning.

One of our key School Improvement Priorities this year is to further develop our partnership with parents and families to ensure you:

  • know what your child is learning

  • are provided with guidance which helps you support your child’s learning and development

  • know how well your child is doing in relation to their starting point and the standards expected for children at a similar stage/age of learning and feel that your child is suitably challenged

We welcome your questions and value your compliments and “even better if ….” suggestions. However, if you do ever have concerns, please contact us at the earliest possible opportunity so we can work together to ensure your child achieves as well as possible in their time at Bevois Town.

What are the arrangements for handling complaints from parents of children with special educational needs about the provision made at the school?

It is particularly important to us to ensure parents of pupils with any additional needs feel they are provided with clear and timely information on how well their child is progressing and how they are being supported, in school, to achieve accelerated progress.

In the first instance, parents are encouraged to speak with their child’s class teacher if they have any concerns. If however, parents feel that their issues have not been resolved or they would like additional information then we strongly suggest they make an appointment with our Inclusion Leader - Nicole Ash. Parents are also welcome to contact a senior leader - Dan Steel (Assistant Headteacher and Year 4/5 Phase Leader), Vicki Young (Deputy Headteacher) or Sarah Sadler (Headteacher).

If the matter remains unresolved then parents should refer to the complaints procedure.
