Bevois Town Primary School awarded a prestigious Eco-Schools’ Green Flag

We are so proud to have received an international accreditation for our work in promoting sustainability and raising environmental awareness. After a year of hard work, led by our Forest School Teacher (Mrs Boussot), we were awarded the Eco-Schools’ Green Flag in July 2024.

A pupil-led Eco-Committee was established and took responsibility for spearheading our environmental initiatives. They first conducted a thorough review of the school environment and curriculum, before developing a year-long plan of action. Our action plan focused on 3 key issues: Biodiversity, Transport and School Grounds, and activities included creating habitats such as a bog garden and wildflower area, creating a clean air route map for journeys to and from school, and spending more time learning outside through Forest School and Orienteering.

Eco-Schools England Manager, Adam Flint, said: ‘The Eco-Schools’ Green Flag is an
international benchmark that demonstrates a commitment to fighting climate change and
high standard of sustainable practice. Students and staff who earn this award deserve
recognition for their dedication toward protecting our planet. Every day, they demonstrate
that each of us can contribute to making our planet a better, more sustainable, place.’
