We are very proud to share that Bevois Town Primary School was first awarded ‘School of Sanctuary’ status in 2017. In June 2025, we were successfully reaccredited, recognising our unwavering commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment—especially for those seeking sanctuary. This national award honours schools that go above and beyond to support people whose lives may have been affected by conflict, displacement, or hardship, and who are seeking a place of safety and belonging.
Being recognised as a School of Sanctuary means our school has shown a clear commitment to making sure every child and family feels welcomed, safe, and supported to thrive. Safeguarding is our highest priority.
The Schools of Sanctuary programme is not political — it simply helps schools to understand why people seek safety and to lead with kindness and humanity.
We are proud to be a school where every child feels safe, where individual needs are understood, and where pupils are equipped to be kind and thoughtful members of our community.
At Bevois Town, we are deeply committed to making everyone feel valued and respected. We celebrate the rich diversity within our school community and ensure that all children and families feel welcome, seen, and supported. Our curriculum reflects this ethos, providing meaningful opportunities to explore human rights, migration, inclusion, and social justice in age-appropriate ways.
'' The commitment from leaders to establish Bevois Town as a School of Sanctuary is inspirational. Their sense of moral purpose and commitment to every human being is infectious. The project's aims are consistently upheld across all year groups and are reflected on each and every day.'' (Ofsted 2018)
This reaccreditation is a significant achievement for our school and a testament to the dedication of our staff, children, and families in creating a community where kindness, understanding, and equality are at the heart of all we do.
Bevois Town Primary School is a school that is proud to be
a place of safety and inclusion for all.
