Children's Mental Health Week 2025 - Know Yourself, Grow Yourself
Children's Mental Health Week took place from 3-9 February 2025. The theme for 2025 was "Know Yourself, Grow Yourself," with the aim to equip and empower children and young people across the UK to embrace self-awareness and explore what it means to them. We want children and young people to discover how getting to know who they are can help them build resilience, grow and develop.
During Children’s Mental Health Week 2025, our school community explored the theme “Know Yourself, Grow Yourself”, with a focus on developing self-awareness, emotional understanding and resilience.
Throughout the week, children were supported to learn more about themselves – including their strengths, interests and emotions. By developing a better understanding of who they are, pupils were encouraged to recognise how they respond to different situations and how they can begin to manage their feelings in positive ways.
A key focus of the week was the launch of our Zones of Regulation approach across the school. Children were introduced to the different “zones” and began to understand that all emotions are valid. They explored how their feelings can change throughout the day and were taught simple, practical strategies to help them regulate and return to a calm and ready state for learning.
o support this learning, pupils watched Inside Out, helping them to visualise and better understand different emotions and how these can influence our thoughts and behaviours. This provided a shared language for discussing feelings and encouraged thoughtful conversations in classrooms.
We had great fun dressing up as emotions at the end of the week!
