Children's Mental Health Week took place from 9-15 February 2026, with the theme "This is My Place," focusing on fostering a sense of belonging and resilience for children and young people.
Our goal was that children and young people have a place where feel they seen, safe and heard, a place where they belong and can say "This is My Place".
A key focus was helping children to understand and build resilience – learning how to manage challenges, cope with change and develop the confidence to keep going when things feel difficult. Pupils engaged in activities linked to our wider approach to emotional wellbeing, including recognising emotions, using strategies to regulate themselves, and identifying trusted adults they can turn to for support.
As part of the week, children also took part in a range of practical, hands-on games designed to build resilience. These activities encouraged teamwork, perseverance and problem-solving, helping children to experience challenge in a safe and supportive way.
One popular activity involved children working together to complete tasks that required cooperation and communication, such as keeping objects balanced or passing items carefully between one another. These games helped children to understand that things may not always go to plan, and that it is okay to try again, adapt their approach and keep going.
Another activity focused on managing frustration and developing a positive mindset. Children explored how it feels when something is tricky and practised strategies such as staying calm, asking for help and encouraging one another.
Through these experiences, children developed a deeper understanding that resilience is not about getting things right the first time, but about trying, reflecting and persevering. These skills are essential not only for learning in school, but also for navigating everyday challenges.
As parents and carers, you play an important role in your child’s mental health. Place2Be's website contains a wealth of information and resources to support parents and carers with this.
